Olmec vampire: Luis Borges, happy to be the coach of the 3rd team with Tabasco

Olmec vampire: Luis Borges, happy to be the coach of the 3rd team with Tabasco

Luis Borges Burgos arrived at a home that seemed very familiar to him: Kukulcán Park, but as he has done for several years, wearing the jersey of another team.

“Vampiro,” wearing number 23 (his usual number is 11), stepped onto the field of the great Yucatecan stadium and said he was “happy to return to this park that brings back so many memories.” Before being “Vampiro,” he was “Botes” to many, and last night, before the first game of the series between Olmecas and Leones, he recalled the years when, as a child, he was a bucket-carrier at Kukulcán and would often take breaks between selling soda to watch the games. “It was a dream, it came true, I played, I think I did well, and now we're still in baseball.”

Olmecas manager Willie Romero recruited him from his home team to coach the third team. “There are many ways to contribute in baseball, and I hope to do so with Tabasco, which has given me this opportunity to work for the club. I'm happy to be back.”— Gaspar Silveira
