The League Advances Learning to Think Better Playing with an Intense Day in Saltillo

The third round of the 2025 Learning to Think Better by Playing League took place on Saturday, May 3, at the GNZLZ Padel Club facilities, bringing together chess students from across the region. This tournament, promoted by Construajedrez , continues to establish itself as a platform for developing logical and competitive thinking among young people.
On this day, the players competed for key points that directly influence the overall standings heading into the grand final. Matches were played in five categories: Under-8 (Guardians), Under-10 (Warriors), Under-12 (Gladiators), Under-14 (Gold), and Under-20 (Diamond Spartans) .
In the Under-08 category, Daniel Manrique Saade , from Liceo Freinet, took first place with 5 points. In the Under-10 category, Tahiel Álvarez Gordian , from Instituto Othli , won with 4 points. In the Under-12 category, Emilio Escobedo Tinoco , from Harmony School , obtained a perfect score of 5 points. For Under-14, David Maximiliano Contreras Aquines , from Colegio Cosmo , and Iker Gabriel Medellín Gutiérrez , from Pan American School , tied for the lead with 4 points. Finally, in the Under-20 category, Ángel Alejandro Porto Torres , from Secondary School Technical 56 , took first place with 4 points.

In terms of teams, COLAM was the highest-ranked institution of the day, accumulating 24 points. They were followed by Liceo Freinet with 15.5 and Harmony School with 14.5 . In the overall standings after three rounds, COLAM remains at the top with 86 points , followed by Liceo Freinet (68) and Instituto Othli (48) .
At the individual level, the leaders by category after three rounds are: Daniel Manrique Saade (Under-08), Rodrigo Oyervides Treviño (Under-10), Emilio Escobedo Tinoco (Under-12), Luis Ignacio Domínguez De León (Under-14), and Emmanuel Jiménez Gómez (Under-20). The scoring system recognizes up to tenth place in each division, with prizes ranging from laptops to themed chess sets.
The next stage of the league will be played on Saturday, May 24, while the closing tournament, the Copa COLAM , is scheduled for June 7. Additionally, recovery tournaments will be held on May 11 at the FILC and on June 1, both in the open category.
