Toluca touches the sky again and is crowned champion of the 2025 Clausura.

Toluca touches the sky again and is crowned champion of the 2025 Clausura.

Finally, after 15 long years of waiting, hell has ignited again. Deportivo Toluca claimed its 11th title after a resounding 2-0 victory over América in the 2025 Clausura Grand Final, on a magical night at Nemesio Díez Stadium that will forever be etched in the scarlet memory. A team that seemed doomed to live on memories awoke today with a glorious present, led by an inspired Alexis Vega, who assumed the role of "9" and recalled the legendary days of José Saturnino Cardozo.

The mission wasn't easy. América arrived as three-time champions, clearly dominating the Liguilla and holding a slight advantage since the first leg. In the opening minutes at the "Bombonera," André Jardine's team was the better side, imposing pace, possession, and pressure. But the Red Devils, with Antonio Mohamed's combative approach, held their own, waiting, and striking when the moment called for it.

The euphoria erupted in the 65th minute, when Brazilian defender Luan García rose high in the box to take a corner kick and sent the ball into the back of the net. Toluca scored, a goal that ignited hell. América felt the blow and vanished.

Twelve minutes later, in the 77th minute, Sebastián Cáceres's stamp on Robert Morales was awarded a penalty by referee César Ramos. The decision came after several minutes of VAR review. The stadium held its breath.

The 81st minute arrived. Vega took the ball. Absolute silence. He executed with composure, with character, as he had throughout the campaign. The ball grazed the net. 2-0. The title was already secured.

Vega was not only the hero of the night, but also the soul of the championship for the people of Mexico. His skill, leadership, and commitment established him as the new leader of an institution desperately needing an idol.

Toluca breaks a 15-year drought, dating back to the 2010 Bicentenario, where they defeated Santos Laguna. Today, with this star, they have won the championships of 1966-67, 1967-68, 1974-75, Summer 1998, Summer 1999, Summer 2000, Apertura 2002, Apertura 2005, Apertura 2008, Bicentenario 2010, and now Clausura 2025.

Tears, hugs, screams. In Toluca, the sun rose again. The devil awoke, and he became a champion.
