The Club World Cup has changed its format, going from being held annually between a handful of teams to every four years with 32 teams selected on merit between 2021 and 2024. Among them are Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid .

The Club World Cup format is identical to that of the World Cups for international teams. Thirty-two teams are divided into eight groups of four clubs each, with the top two advancing to the round of 16. From there, knockout matches are played until the winner is determined.

This new tournament will begin on June 15 and end on July 13. As a new feature, participating clubs will have a special pre-registration period, which will run from June 1 to 10.
