Luxury on rails: the tourist train that crosses northern Spain

Renfe has already launched the 2025 season of the Costa Verde Express Luxury Tourist Train . This is a unique six-day, five-night trip aboard one of the luxury trains that travels through the green Spain that gives it its name. Its route runs from Santiago de Compostela to Bilbao , departing from the former city to the latter and vice versa.

The Costa Verde Express train offers a comprehensive tour of the four regions of the Cantabrian coast: Galicia, Asturias , Cantabria, and the Basque Country . Travelers travel aboard an exclusive, modern luxury train that combines the landscapes of the north with the comfort and sophistication of a hotel on rails. All this is complemented by exquisite suites, signature cuisine, and first-class services.

Trips include accommodation in the Costa Verde Express's Gran Clase Suite with a full bathroom, a luxury coach accompanying the train throughout the journey to facilitate travel on select excursions, a multilingual guide throughout the trip, tickets to all scheduled tours, all breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, among many other services and activities onboard the train. In addition, to facilitate travelers' rest, the train stops each night at a station along the route.

Travelers who choose to enjoy this experience will be the first to experience the complete renovation of the cabins , which now feature new decor. Larger beds have also been added for maximum comfort. Daily newspapers, magazines, library books, and internet access are also available.

The train's 24 suites feature individually controlled air conditioning and other amenities (desk, wardrobe, luggage storage, minibar, and safe). They also have a full private bathroom with a shower, hairdryer, and a varied set of welcome and toiletries.

Additionally, one of the Costa Verde Express Train's four lounges features a bar and dance floor, while another offers a more relaxed setting. In the other lounges, you can share a board game, chat, or simply admire the scenery.

Those departing from Bilbao will visit the city and the Guggenheim Museum ; Santander, Santillana del Mar, the Altamira Neo-Cave, Llanes and Cabezón de la Sal; the Picos de Europa National Park, the Sanctuary of Covadonga; and Oviedo; Gijón, Luarca and Ribadeo; the famous Cathedral Beach; Viveiro, Ferrol; and Santiago de Compostela . Departing from Santiago de Compostela, the same sites are visited except for the Guggenheim.
