600 homes still without electricity in Dordogne after yesterday afternoon's storm

Placed on yellow alert, the Dordogne region was swept by violent thunderstorms accompanied by strong gusts of wind late Saturday afternoon, July 12. Nearly 3,800 homes were left without power, and one family was injured in Bergerac. The village of Nadaillac, already impacted two weeks ago, has been hit again.
Violent thunderstorms swept through parts of the department last night, particularly affecting the Bergerac region. As of 7 p.m., 3,800 homes were without power, according to Enedis. The network operator's teams began working throughout the evening to gradually restore power.
"All outages have been identified," Enedis said this Sunday morning. As of 9 a.m., approximately 600 homes were still without power. A return to normal is expected around noon.
Branch falls on a familyThe bad weather also caused many trees to fall, particularly on the roadway. The gendarmerie intervened several times on Saturday evening, particularly in the Bergerac, Lalinde, and Le Bugue areas.
In Bergerac, around 7 p.m., firefighters responded to a family walking on the greenway after a branch fell on them. The 44-year-old father and his 16-year-old daughter were injured and taken to the town hospital. They were accompanied by the mother and two other children, who were unharmed.
Nadaillac hit againThe village of Nadaillac was hit hard around 5 p.m. Already severely affected by a violent hailstorm on June 25, the town was only just beginning to recover. Several homes damaged during the previous storm were still covered by temporary tarpaulins, which were unable to withstand the gusts of wind.
Firefighters were mobilized for tarpaulin operations and to secure property. In total, nearly 50 interventions were recorded in the department due to the weather conditions.
