Weather forecast for Sunday, July 13: heavy rain and hail in Corsica

Another very hot day awaits the French this Sunday, July 13. Two-thirds of the country will see temperatures exceed 30°C. In the mountains, in the Pyrenees, the Alps, and the Jura, a few thunderstorms are forecast, according to La Chaîne Météo*. After the heavy rains that fell on the Languedoc-Roussillon region , Corsica is expected to suffer the same fate this Sunday. Hail is also forecast, and wind gusts could exceed 100 km/h.

The weather is mild this Sunday morning. Clouds and a few residual thunderstorms may still appear in the mountains, from the Pyrenees to the Jura Mountains, passing through the Alps. Clouds are rolling in along the Mediterranean Sea and in Brittany as well. Temperatures will range between 15 and 22°C.

After a brief respite in the morning, the heat will once again be present. In the south of the country, the risk of thunderstorms will gradually diminish, but the sky will remain overcast and threatening, especially in the mountains. Along the Atlantic, the sky will be overcast, all the way to the edge of the English Channel and the Paris Basin. Elsewhere, the sun will be shining.

Aside from Brest and the Basque coast, which will see temperatures drop to 23°C, allowing the Bayonne festival-goers to avoid suffering too much from the heat, the rest of the country will see temperatures rise further. From central Brittany to the north of Rhône-Alpes and up towards Champagne, temperatures of over 30°C are expected.

In the evening, the weather will become heavy and threatening in several regions. Thunderstorms are expected in the Pyrenees, the Massif Central, the Alps, and the Jura. Along the English Channel and the Atlantic Ocean, rain and thunder may disrupt fireworks displays .
