Athletics: Jakob Ingebrigtsen's father acquitted of assault against his son

Norwegian courts ruled on Monday in the Ingebrigtsen case, in which Gjert, former coach and father of Jakob, was facing charges of parental violence against the Olympic champion and his daughter Ingrid. The father was acquitted of the charges of violence against his son.
Norwegian justice on Monday acquitted Gjert Ingebrigtsen of charges of assaulting his son, Olympic track and field champion Jakob Ingebgrigtsen, but sentenced him to a 15-day suspended prison sentence for assaulting his daughter Ingrid, according to lawyers for both sides.
Gjert Ingebrigtsen, 59, was charged with alleged physical and psychological abuse of his two children over a period spanning a total of 14 years, from 2008 to 2022, charges he denied. More information to follow...
