In Gironde, an armed individual taken into custody after threatening to kill his wife

He was unknown to the gendarmerie until then. A 50-year-old man was arrested at his home in Saint-Estèphe, in Gironde , on Sunday. Holed up inside and armed with a rifle, he was threatening to kill his wife when the Gironde gendarmerie was alerted.

The call for help had been made by the individual's son, a 15-year-old teenager, who managed to flee the family home with his mother before the arrival of the military. The gendarmerie surveillance and intervention platoon (PSIG) quickly surrounded the home and evacuated the four adjoining dwellings.

During this operation, the madman fired his rifle outwards; but no one was injured. Arrested immediately afterwards, the fifty-year-old was taken into custody, where he remains on Monday.
