Weekend storms left two dead in France, here's what we know about the victims

Two people died following the storms that hit France on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 June 2025.
Fatal branch fall in ParisA young woman was spending Friday evening with friends in Paris when the tree she was under was struck by lightning , causing a branch to fall and hit her on the head.
Placed in a coma by emergency services, she was rushed to Henri-Mondor Hospital in Créteil, Val-de-Marne. The Paris prosecutor's office announced her death this Sunday.
An investigation into the cause of death has been entrusted to the police stations of the 5th and 6th arrondissements.
A building collapses in YvelinesA 68-year-old man had taken refuge in a hunting lodge with six people in Grandchamp, Yvelines, when a tree struck by lightning collapsed on the building, according to firefighters who responded shortly before 10 p.m. this Friday.
The other six people were able to escape without injury, while the man, who was in cardio-respiratory arrest, remained trapped under the rubble .
The Houdan gendarmerie brigade is in charge of the investigation.
Thousands of poultry died in Côte-d'OrThe weather also caused significant damage to agricultural plots locally: in the commune of Chaumont-le-Bois in Côte-d'Or, an industrial chicken coop "flew away" during the night from Saturday to Sunday and thousands of poultry died, declared the mayor of the commune, Anne Bouhelier, on ICI Bourgogne .
In the same department, several residential building roofs were blown off or damaged, as were those of a church and a town hall, firefighters reported. There were no casualties or injuries.
Affected by hail, Yonne and Nièvre recorded some minor damage.
22,500 homes without electricityThe storms that occurred on Friday and Saturday also left some 22,500 homes in France without power , more than half of them in Dordogne.
