The organizers of the Lyon Street Food Festival, whose 9th edition takes place from June 25 to 29, have unveiled the program: guest chefs, concerts, themes... Here's a summary of what you need to know.

" We firmly believe that cuisine is a universal language ." Émeric Richard, director of the Lyon Street Food Festival, is not mistaken. Last year, more than 50,000 festival-goers descended on the Grandes Locos at La Mulatière to enjoy this gastronomic event... but not only that. "Food, culture, and music," as its organizers like to summarize it.

The 9th edition of the festival will take place from June 25th to 29th: five days instead of four previously, to extend the fun. This will also allow for a 15% increase in the number of chef booths.

130 chefs and pastry chefs will be present over the five-day festival. Justine Piluso, who rose to prominence on Top Chef in 2020 and trained at the Paul Bocuse Institute, will be present from June 27 to 29. On the same dates, Parisian chef Yoni Saada, notably selected for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, joins the roster.

Nicolas Paciello, who was also there last year, will also be offering his Mini M praline. Belgian content creator Whoogy's is expected on Wednesday, June 25. The list goes on: Merouan Bouenkraf, Léo Troisgros (son of Michel) and Lisa Roche, Alessandra Montagne, Thomas L'ogival and Franck Derouet (Clos des Sens in Annecy), Pierre Sang, and more.

In addition, Lyon's young generation of chefs and pastry chefs has been invited to the event. " We wanted to shine a spotlight on the representatives of this new wave of Lyonnaise talent ," explains Émeric Richard, who believes Lyon's culinary scene has been experiencing a real boom in recent years.

Of particular note is the presence of Auriane Leclef and Maxime Dubois, whose s'more with melted marshmallows and fresh lime flavor should attract the most discerning palates. Not to mention the return of the Festin Français and its 100-meter-long table.

Six Brazilian chefs and three Irish chefs will be invited. The cultures of these two countries will be showcased this year through cuisine, workshops, and even shows. Among the guests will be Camila and Junior from Snack Brasil, whose Brazilian restaurant is located in Lyon's 9th arrondissement.

A first samba show has already been presented to journalists and festival partners.

Samba initiations, Brazilian cuisine preparation, and cachaça tastings will be offered. On the Irish side, festivalgoers will be able to enjoy cooking classes and Irish dancing initiations.

Chef Philippe Etchebest, a staple of French cuisine, will be making his mark this time on the music scene with his rock band Chef and the Gang . He and his band will open the festival on the evening of Wednesday, June 25. The following day, FFF, a 90s culture group, will take the stage. On Friday, June 27, it will be the turn of DJ and singer Kiddy Emile.
