From June 25th to 29th, the Lyon Street Food Festival will be held at the Grandes Locos de la Mulatière. Here's everything you need to know about the 9th edition of the food and music event.

Wednesday, June 25th marks the start of the festivities at Les Grandes Locos de la Mulatière. Running through Sunday, June 29th, the former industrial site will host the 9th edition of the Lyon Street Food Festival. Featuring Brazilian and Irish themes, entertainment, food, and music will enliven the venue's aisles. With several hundred thousand festival-goers and nearly 120 Michelin-starred chefs expected, here's what to expect for the 2025 edition:

On the food side, the lineup promises to be packed. Throughout the week, the festival will offer visitors a culinary journey through the two featured countries: Brazil and Ireland. The food corner will be complemented by dishes from other regions, with stalls offering Korean, Italian, Mexican, and Lebanese dishes.

For those with a taste for French gastronomy, chefs Florian Barbarot of the restaurant "Quelque part", Anthony Baud of "Quintessence", and Carla Kirsch Lopez of Alebrije will occupy the "French feast" space throughout the festival. Lovers of sweet treats will be able to enjoy the work of the 130 pastry chefs on site, including Justine Piluso, revealed by Top Chef in 2020 and trained at the Paul Bocuse Institute.

The event will open musically with performances by "Darwells" from Ninkasi Musik Lab at 8:15 p.m., before the band "Chef and the Gang" and its drummer Philipe Etchebest take to the stage at 9:30 p.m. At the same time, the following will be performing on the second stage of the Grandes Locos: Bingo by Team Ninkasi at 7:15 p.m. and DJ Interplateau by Fool Option from 9:00 p.m.

The next day, 90s band FFF will take the stage at Les Grandes Locos. DJ and singer Kiddy Emile will follow on Friday, June 27th, before giving way to Molécule and then Calling Marian the following day. Finally, DJ Etienne will be joined by a sax and a violin on Sunday, June 29th to close the festival. Before each performance, singers from the Ninkasi Music Lab will perform on stage.

In terms of entertainment, the horizons will be varied. On this opening day, the event organizers plan cooking classes by top chefs and trainers, tastings, chef talks, culinary shows, book signings, and chef battles. Oenology classes and wine tastings will also be offered to the public. Finally, pottery and collage workshops will be available, while an "expression slab" will welcome BMX, skateboarding, and longboarding enthusiasts.

These activities, accompanied by workshops promoting "responsible" cooking, will be offered throughout the event.

To reach the festival by public transport, visitors can take metro line B to Oullins station or take buses 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 88, or C10 to the same stop. Les Grandes Locos is also accessible by bike, taking 24 minutes from Bellecour.

The festival is open from 6 p.m. to midnight on Wednesday, June 25, Thursday, June 26, and Friday, June 27, then from 11 a.m. to midnight on Saturday, June 28, and from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the closing day. To access the venues, festival-goers must have a pass. To obtain one, visitors are invited to visit the event website.

Tickets are available for ten euros at the regular rate and 25 euros for a five-day pass. The child rate (ages 8-14) is five euros and free for children under eight.
