TF1 is coming soon to Netflix, we'll tell you everything about this world premiere

Watching "Koh Lanta", "HPI" or the 8 p.m. news on Netflix will be possible next year: the American platform will broadcast the TF1 group's channels and TF1+ content from summer 2026 , under a new partnership announced this Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
This distribution agreement, the duration and amount of which have not been disclosed, will provide access to both TF1's five live channels (TF1, the leading audience in France, LCI, TMC, TFX, TF1 Séries films) and to the programs on its TF1+ platform , from the series "Brocéliande" with Nolwenn Leroy to the talent show "The Voice" and sports events.
All this "without ever having to leave the Netflix environment" and its recommendation system, states a press release.
This partnership is a world first , as the streaming giant has never before opened its platform to another operator.
"Obvious request"TF1 and Netflix have collaborated extensively in recent years, co-producing series such as "Le bazar de la charité" in 2019 and, more recently, the daily soap opera "Tout pour la lumière."
Their success "showed that there was a clear demand," Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters told AFP, happy to go further with the "largest (private, editor's note) broadcaster in France."
"We felt there was an opportunity" with "an audience in France that considers Netflix as their way of accessing television ," he added.
But the decision may come as a surprise from TF1 at a time when the audiovisual group, one of the most powerful in Europe, aims to make TF1+, launched in early 2024, the leading free streaming platform in France and the French-speaking world.
"TF1+ is and will remain at the heart of our strategy," TF1 CEO Rodolphe Belmer assured AFP, praising a "truly complementary" partnership in a context of audience fragmentation and an increase in on-demand viewing .
Reaching Netflix subscribers , who are "very numerous" and attached to this paid service, should, according to him, allow an increase in the audience for TF1 programs, "monetized solely or mainly by advertising", to "finance the best possible program offering for the French-speaking public".
"Additional" content"We have of course asked ourselves the question of the cannibalization of TF1+ and we have done a lot of analysis" which suggests that the operation "will be clearly positive for us in terms of audience," argued Mr. Belmer, who often highlights the competition from YouTube, a free platform.
For its part, Netflix, which in 2022 reached the milestone of 10 million French subscriber households and increased its prices in France in April , will benefit from new "complementary" content to its catalog, according to Greg Peters.
"TF1 is very good at sports and live broadcasts, where we are not very present at the moment, even if we are developing them," the director explained to AFP.
The streaming giant notably distinguished itself at the end of 2024 by broadcasting live two matches of the professional American football league NFL and a boxing match between YouTuber Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.
Greg Peters is also pleased to be able to offer TF1's daily soap operas such as "Tomorrow Belongs to Us" and "Here It All Begins," a genre that subscribers appreciate, according to him.
This is evidenced by the "good performance" , according to Mr. Peters, of "Tout pour la lumière", launched Friday on Netflix, then on TF1 and TFX Monday, which demonstrates "the power of this model".
Asked about the distribution of advertising revenue under the new agreement, the two executives did not comment.
"New model"As for the potential extension of this partnership to other players in France and abroad , nothing is currently planned at Netflix or TF1.
"We have, quite frankly, a lot of work to do" before thinking about what's next, explained Greg Peters. "It's a new model (...) we want everyone to be happy."
"We are totally focused" on this agreement which will have to be implemented with consumers "but also with the advertising market ," added Rodolphe Belmer.
