On July 1, 2004, American actor Marlon Brando died of heart and respiratory failure in Los Angeles, USA.

Born on April 3, 1924 in Omaha, Nebraska, Marlon Brando is considered one of the greatest American actors of the 20th century .

In 1944, he made his Broadway debut with the play "Tenderness." His career took off in 1951 when director Elia Kazan offered him the role of Stanley Kowalski in the play "A Streetcar Named Desire." From then on, he began appearing in numerous films, including "A Streetcar Named Desire" (1951), "The Godfather" (1972), "Apocalypse Now" (1979), and "The Score" (2001).

During his acting career, Marlon Brando won numerous accolades. He twice won the Academy Award for Best Actor for the films "On the Waterfront" (1955) and "The Godfather" (1972). At the 1952 Cannes Film Festival, he also received the Best Actor Award for the film "Viva Zapata" (1952).

Marlon Brando died on July 1 , 2004, at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was later cremated, and his ashes were scattered in Tahiti and also in Death Valley, USA.
