Tom Holland unveils his new costume for Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Spider-Man is spinning his web again. Tom Holland , who has played Spider-Man since 2017, unveiled a first image on Saturday from Spider-Man: Brand New Day , the fourth installment in the franchise, expected to hit theaters on July 31, 2026. The British actor appears in a brand new costume, warming up in the middle of a hangar, to the soundtrack of the cult comic book character. "Are you ready?" he says, staring into the camera.

Filming for the movie, produced by Sony and Marvel Studios, began on August ¹ in Scotland, on the streets of Glasgow. The city center was decorated to resemble the streets of New York, Peter Parker's playground since May 1969, reports the BBC . Tom Holland was spotted in costume, recording action scenes in front of around 100 people. On his social media, the actor shared images of himself standing on a tank on Sunday evening.

For the moment, no information has been revealed about the film's plot. Tom Holland explained at Comic-Con last March that Spider-Man: Brand New Day would be "a new beginning." This new installment, the fourth with the British actor, will follow Peter Parker who in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) chose to hide himself to save the world from the dangers of the multiverse. The character will have to find a solution so that MJ ( Zendaya ) and Ned (Jacob Batalon), his best friends, will trust him again.

In July, Tom Holland told Flip You Wig that he was "over the moon and very excited" about shooting a new film in the Spider-Man costume. "It's been so long since I've done this ," the British actor said. " It's going to be like a breath of fresh air. I think the fans are going to be over the moon with what we're planning."

The actor who played Peter Parker, who has appeared in Captain America: Civil War , Spider-Man: Homecoming , Avengers: Infinity War , Avengers: Endgame , Spider-Man: Far From Home , and Spider-Man: No Way Home since 2016, is currently working on several sets. He has just finished shooting his scenes for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey , where he plays the role of Telemachus , son of Ulysses and Penelope. The film, which the actor describes as "the experience of a lifetime," is expected to be released in theaters on July 15, 2026, a fortnight before the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day .
