Despite the SNCF strike, traffic should be almost normal on Wednesday

Train traffic close to normal on Wednesday. On the eve of a call for a strike by drivers launched by the CGT railway workers to demand an improvement in their bonuses , the Minister of Transport, Philippe Tabarot, announced this Tuesday, June 3: "It would seem that the SNCF can ensure a transport plan that is of a good standard. Some minor disruptions in the regions, RER B, RER D, but for the rest, the transport plan will be ensured to the maximum," the minister assured on Public Sénat.

SNCF Voyageurs has confirmed that it expects normal traffic on TGV and Intercités trains and on most regional and Transilien trains, "although slight disruptions are possible in some regions." These forecasts also apply to Thursday, as an inter-professional strike over pensions is planned for that day.

Philippe Tabarot defended his idea of requiring railway workers to declare their strikes 72 hours in advance, compared to the current 48 hours. "Potential strikers want to declare themselves at the very last minute so that the company does not have to organize itself to run the trains," Philippe Tabarot said. As a senator, he even defended a bill to limit the right to strike in transport.

The call for a drivers' strike comes on the sidelines of a roundtable discussion scheduled for Wednesday on the bonuses this category receives. "Decisions and discussions on the financial side take place once a year during the mandatory annual negotiations, not every two months to determine whether a new bonus should be added," Philippe Tabarot said.

The CGT railway union has planned another day of strike action on June 11, this time calling on ticket inspectors to mobilize. The three other SNCF unions have not called for a strike.
