Varois Stéphane Benhamou at the head of Medef Sud

Varois Stéphane Benhamou at the head of Medef Sud

Medef Sud (Medef Sud) announced that its general meeting this morning elected a successor to Jean-Louis Maurizi, president since 2022. Stéphane Benhamou, president of Medef Var, was unanimously elected for a three-year term, renewable once.

The entrepreneur, head of Paca Participations (550 employees, 180 million euros in turnover), which includes the Hyper U in Les Arcs, the one in Saint-Zacharie and other specialist retail chains such as Sobio, has in recent weeks made numerous interventions in the business world to denounce the "excessive taxes" weighing on businesses, in particular the mobility payment recently introduced by the South Region.

President of Medef Var since November 2023, he also sat on the Jeune Chambre Economique at the start of his career, then on the CCI du Var as well as on the UPV, as a territorial advisor in Draguignan and in the Haut Pays Varois.

He co-chairs the UPV with Véronique Maurel (CPME). One of his guiding principles is to involve employees in the company's project; his recently adopted the status of a mission-driven company. Now at the helm of Medef Sud, he intends to make the employers' union a driving force in the upcoming elections.

"Let us remember that 62% of French people trust entrepreneurs, while only 26% trust political institutions," said the new president.
