Gambsheim. After new analyses, swimming is once again permitted at the lake.

The Massed, a leisure spot so dear to Gambsheim residents and the inhabitants of the surrounding villages, has experienced some upheavals in recent days. The results of water analyses taken on Tuesday, July 1st, showed bacteriological contamination of the body of water. Closed upon publication of the results, it was able to reopen on Thursday, July 10th.

On Thursday, July 10, Gambsheim town hall officials and elected officials can breathe a sigh of relief. The results of the July 8 counter-sampling analyses have just been released: the Escheria coli microplates have a content of 15 NNP/100 ml, compared to 2,100 during the regulatory sampling on July 1, given that the quality limit is 1,800.

"One might assume that the record crowds in the days leading up to the official opening of the Massed had something to do with it. With the paid admissions, things have calmed down," estimates Mayor Hubert Hoffmann. In addition, at the beginning of the week, weather conditions that were less conducive to taking a dip may have contributed. But the Regional Health Agency (ARS) and the municipality's technical department are not ruling out a data entry error as an explanation for the poor results. Also, a few days before the swimming pool opened, the analyses were correct. An investigation is underway.

It goes without saying that the municipality has taken the necessary orders and measures to prohibit swimming from July 8 and to reopen it on July 10: red flag raised on the beach, notices on the site, information on the municipality's website .

Please note that during the official opening of swimming, during the months of July and August, a regulatory inspection is carried out by the ARS every 15 days. The next inspection will take place on Tuesday, July 15.

Access to the recreational area in Gambsheim is subject to a fee during the months of July and August. Supervised swimming is available in the designated area every day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
