Two women and a man, activists from the NGO Greenpeace, stole a wax statue of Emmanuel Macron from the Grévin Museum on Monday, June 2. They disguised themselves as tourists and then as workers before slipping out through an emergency exit and left it in front of the Russian Embassy.

The wax statue of Emmanuel Macron was stolen from the Grévin Museum on the morning of Monday, June 2, by Greenpeace activists. They then left it in front of the Russian embassy in protest against France's economic ties with Russia, according to several concordant sources.

According to a police source, two women and a man, posing as tourists, entered the Parisian museum , located in the 9th arrondissement. After changing their clothes, this time posing as artisans or employees of the establishment, they managed to steal the statue, worth €40,000 and hidden under a blanket, by leaving through an emergency exit.

The statue of the French President was then removed from the building in front of the Russian embassy, located in the 16th arrondissement of the capital, according to a journalist present at the scene.

"For us, France is playing a double game" and "Emmanuel Macron embodies this double discourse: he supports Ukraine but encourages French companies to continue trading with Russia," declared Jean-François Julliard, general director of Greenpeace France.

"Emmanuel Macron is being specifically targeted because he has a particular responsibility in this situation," he added. "He should be the first in European discussions" to end trade contracts between Russia and European countries.
