François Bayrou launches a podcast to discuss the budget "live with the French"

After announcing an unpopular €44 billion savings plan in mid-July , François Bayrou wants to explain himself. As the Prime Minister announced to Le Parisien on Monday, August 4, according to information confirmed by BFMTV, he will launch a podcast and a YouTube series to discuss the 2026 budget.
The first episode of the podcast, which will be called "FB Direct," will air this Tuesday. As for the YouTube videos, the first will focus on the general framework of the budget and the need to get out of debt.
Then, in daily thematic episodes, the head of government will address the difficulties caused by debt, followed by solutions. Starting next week, Internet users will be able to ask questions.
"This is such a crucial moment that I feel the need to speak directly with the French people. So that each of them can form their own opinion," François Bayrou explained to the Parisian daily.
"I don't have the impression that the political class, with a few exceptions, is about to assume this responsibility. But the French, perhaps. And since we have the whole of August and the beginning of September, we have a period of time that could be useful for such an awareness," he believes.
On July 15, François Bayrou presented a plan providing for nearly 44 billion euros in savings for the 2026 budget , with several measures criticized by the opposition, including the RN, which is once again brandishing the threat of censure of the budget texts examined in Parliament at the start of the school year.
The government promised to refine its proposals over two months, until the presentation of the finance and social security financing bills. François Bayrou also agreed that he could "discuss" with the parliamentary groups but without "backing down" on the deficit reduction targets.
