On Friday, July 4, the Gandrange municipal council met to adopt the revised budget following the report from the Regional Audit Office. Around a hundred local residents witnessed this "historic tax increase," according to Quentin Bigot, the main opponent of Mayor Henri Octave, who was somewhat shaken.

"I can't remember ever seeing so many people at a municipal council meeting...", says the fifty-year-old. Friday, July 4, at the Espace culturel Daniel-Balavoine. With closed faces, but with their ears wide open, around a hundred residents attended the adoption of the amended budget. This exercise was imposed following the opinion issued on May 27 by the Regional Audit Office (CRC). Twenty days earlier, the Secretary General of the Prefecture had contacted the body to report a "real lack of balance in the 2025 preliminary budget" of some €2,339,345!

To fill this "hole", due to the lack of magic money, opposition leader Quentin Bigot calls on Mayor Henri Octave: "You're going to pick the pockets of the people of Gandrange..." Less than a year from now...
