Politics. Socialist Party: Michel Neugnot the only candidate for his succession in Côte-d'Or

Within the Côte-d'Or Socialist Party, change is not yet imminent. On Saturday, June 7, the federal congress—the departmental body—indeed endorsed Michel Neugnot's sole candidacy for the position of First Federal Secretary, a position he has held for thirty years.
"The congress lasted an hour, everything was voted unanimously," said the candidate, who will therefore be the only candidate for his own succession, while the mayor of Chenôve, Thierry Falconnet, ran against him two years ago. This time, the first vice-president of the regional council will therefore have no rivals, with all voices calling for "reconciliation" between the different factions in view of the upcoming elections.
"I think I can still be useful in the current situation, especially with the prospect of the municipal elections, which are a key objective and for which we need an organization that will enable us to achieve positive results," emphasizes Michel Neugnot.
As a reminder, while Olivier Faure managed to maintain his position as head of the PS at the national level by a very narrow margin, the Côte-d'Or socialists overwhelmingly voted for his opponent Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol in the election for the first national secretary, the mayor of Rouen having garnered nearly 70% of the votes in the department .
All these people will try to reach an agreement at the Nancy Congress from June 13 to 15, before the vote in each federation, scheduled for June 19, to elect the section secretaries and the first federal secretary. In Côte-d'Or, there won't be much suspense.
