Safety in the TCL: Bruno Bernard congratulates himself, the opposition dismantles his figures

Bruno Bernard welcomed the drop in crime on Lyon's public transport system. These figures were immediately challenged by the opposition, which accused him of distorting the facts.
Bruno Bernard , the president of the Métropole and Sytral, congratulated himself this Saturday on having " succeeded in reducing crime on public transport " thanks to 500 agents mobilized, 2,700 cameras installed since 2020, a reinforced budget and more prevention. According to him, the TCL network would today be " three times less affected by crime than other major cities ."
A satisfaction that prompted a reaction from one of his opponents, Édouard Hoffmann , candidate for mayor of Lyon in 2026. " Yes, the figures are falling... but after the explosion in 2021 (+45%), they could only mechanically retreat. However, there are still nearly 20 attacks per day on our transport ," he replied, calling for the creation of " a real transport police force, trained and visible ."
Yes @brunobernard_fr the numbers are going down... but after the explosion in 2021 (+45%), they could only mechanically go backwards. However, there are still nearly 20 assaults per day on our transport. Just one is already one too many.
