Urban rodeos: a recurring phenomenon in industrial zones in France

Every weekend throughout France, urban rodeos can be witnessed in certain industrial areas transformed into racetracks for the occasion. This activity can be extremely dangerous and regularly causes accidents that can prove fatal.
In Bordeaux, Nantes, and Nice, one can regularly witness scenes of illegal urban rodeos taking place in industrial areas used as circuits by drivers. Sometimes hundreds of cars and thousands of spectators, some of them very young, are brought together.
Organizing these rodeos, generally in industrial areas, limits the danger, according to the participants in these nighttime activities. Despite this, many are willing to take any risk, even running someone over. " It's a risk I could take, " confides an 18-year-old driver who takes part in urban rodeos. These sometimes turn tragic, especially when some spectators try to touch moving cars or stand very close to them. Gérald Darmanin promises to crack down on this in a message on X (formerly Twitter).
