Keen to build its first data center in France, Google has purchased a 195-hectare plot near Châteauroux. Reflecting a favorable context for the development of this sector, this still-preliminary project is already a source of economic dreams for some and worries for others.

In the fall of 2024, the American giant Google began researching France. Its goal? To find a location to install its first large-scale data center on French territory. A few months later, the land was found: it would be Ozans, a vast 500-hectare business park located a few kilometers from Châteauroux (Indre). Enthusiastic negotiations began with the municipal council and its mayor, Gil Avérous (formerly LR), and on June 24, the announcement was made. For €58.5 million, the American tech giant has reserved a 195-hectare plot there, giving itself one year to complete this project of a “data center linked to the growth of artificial intelligence.”
