At the crossroads of navigation and technology on this sailboat sponsored by Loïck Peyron in Saint-Tropez

A land of sailing par excellence, Saint-Tropez was the ideal setting for the inauguration, right at the foot of the harbor master's office, of the Class 40 Imagin'Act-Socomec sailboat, in the presence of its sponsor, sailor Loïck Peyron, three-time winner of the English Transat, twice of the Transat Jacques-Vabre, the Barcelona World Race and the Route du Rhum. Not to mention his Jules-Verne Trophies. Joining him was Italian skipper Marco Guerra, founder of the Med Racing team in 2023.
The boat destined for the Mediterranean Trophy aims to combine racing skills and technological expertise, in collaboration with engineering students from the electrical engineering program at INSA Strasbourg (National Institute of Applied Sciences). Unfortunately, this little technological gem was not present: it remained in Italy and is not expected to be in the waters of the Gulf until the summer. It was therefore necessary to make do with virtual elements to appreciate the work accomplished.
Secure cockpitMast, keel and engine installed in less than a meter to improve weight centering, portholes for panoramic vision, a secure cockpit, side wings to optimize righting, 16 watertight anti-collision compartments, an interchangeable bow to navigate everywhere... Innovation sails on the waves.
The project benefits from several partners, in addition to the city of Saint-Tropez (represented in particular by its deputy for port affairs, Michel Perrault), and the industrial group Socomec with its CEO Ivan Steyert.

In 2023, these two brands founded Imagin Act, an endowment fund dedicated to initiatives for young people aged 10 to 15 in the fields of art, sport, and culture.
Finally, Sportmer, an emblematic Saint-Tropez company since 1963, headed by Thierry Benard, was taken over in 2020 by the ANG group, a leading figure in yachting activities.
The evening, which continued in the harbor master's lounge, allowed all the partners to properly celebrate an achievement whose performance at sea remains to be measured.
