Escalade Race in Geneva, December 4, 2022.
It's the 47th of its name, and yet the Escalade Race hasn't aged a bit. It's even in great shape, judging by the growing number of participants. This year, it will be held on December 6 and 7 and is expected to once again attract tens of thousands of runners of all ages. Faced with this success, the organizers were forced to limit the number of registrants . "It's not in our DNA to restrict this race, but we tried to optimize as much as possible to keep the pelotons flowing so that the runners' experience remains enjoyable," emphasizes Jerry Maspoli, president of the organizing committee.
In total, the number of places available reaches 65,000. "However, some races are not full," says Jerry Maspoli, who estimates that the overall participation should reach 60,000. As every year, the 2-lap and 3-lap pace block races are expected to be the most popular. In these categories, the number of places has been limited to 13,300 for the 3-lap races (spread over 6 races) and 8,700 for the 2-lap races (with 5 races). The schedule for Saturday has been revised to include two additional races. "The day will begin with the 2-lap pace block races, starting at 10:50 a.m. The 3-lap pace block races will take place starting at 1:55 p.m.," the organizers explained.
The children's race is limited to 1,100 participants and the Walking, or night walk (starting from Veyrier on Saturday at 7:20 p.m.) to 10,000. This should not be a problem given the number of registrations in previous editions. In the evening, the Marmite will bring some color to the Old Town. Registration will open on Wednesday, September 17 on the official website . This year, the race will honor the Partage Foundation. As for the poster, it is by Julien de Preux, better known by his artist name PanpanCucul.
