Football: FIFA is considering organizing the Club World Cup every two years (and with more teams)

The competition could take place every two years, instead of the current four. According to the British daily The Guardian, FIFA is considering the idea for 2029.
By Le ParisienA week of preparation could become the norm at PSG . Deprived of preparation after their Club World Cup final in the off-season, the Parisian club could experience this situation more often. Every other year, since FIFA is studying the idea of organizing the competition every two years from 2029 according to The Guardian , compared to the current four-year cycle.
The deal is said to be primarily about big money. Talks to this effect have reportedly been underway since June. Barcelona, Liverpool, and Manchester United, three clubs that did not participate in the last edition, are reportedly pushing to organize the competition every two years, with record prize money at stake . Thanks to its victory, Chelsea, for example, pocketed €98 million last July.
The acceleration of the cycle should not affect the next edition, the calendar being fixed until 2030. On the other hand, to satisfy everyone, another idea is in the pipeline: to increase from 32 teams currently to 48 from 2029. Enough to further weigh down an already (too) busy program.
