The 2024-2025 season isn't over yet—the FIFA Club World Cup runs in the United States until July 13—but the summer transfer window has already made its way into the news. While September 1 marks the closing date for club transactions, some transfers have already been completed, and as is the case every year, many African players will be taking their careers in a new direction. International players from the continent's leading countries are eyeing the Africa Cup of Nations , which is scheduled to take place from December 21 to January 18 in Morocco, and the World Cup in the United States, Canada , and Mexico .

Among the most prominent is André Onana, 29, the goalkeeper for Cameroon's Indomitable Lions, after a particularly difficult 2024-2025 season with Manchester United, who finished sixteenth in the English Premier League, a ranking unworthy of his status. The Cameroonian has not been spared criticism, and neither his management nor his coach, the Portuguese Ruben Amorim, seem to have much faith in him.
