Ligue 1: In complete uncertainty, OL resumes training before the DNCG verdict

Ligue 1: In complete uncertainty, OL resumes training before the DNCG verdict

While Lyon is not yet certain of remaining in Ligue 1, the Gones will resume training this Monday.

Lyon resumed training on Monday afternoon amidst the greatest uncertainty as to whether or not it would participate in the Ligue 1 championship, while awaiting a hearing before the appeals committee of the DNCG , the financial watchdog of French football, on July 10, according to several media outlets. The national management control department decided to administratively demote the Rhône club to Ligue 2 on June 24.

For its part, the club, which has been keeping a tight lid on the matter, has not confirmed the hearing date. On Monday, 29 players are expected at the Olympique Lyonnais training center in Décines-Charpieu (Lyon Metropolitan Area) under the direction of Portuguese Paulo Fonseca. Among them are young players from the B team, two players recovering from injuries, striker Ernest Nuamah, and midfielder Orel Mangala, who has returned from a loan from Everton (English Premier League).

For the rest, there is the greatest uncertainty regarding the outline of the squad, which should change a lot in the coming weeks whether OL is maintained or not, but while waiting for the decision of the appeals committee, everything is blocked.

Following the departure of several key players such as Nicolas Tagliafico, Alexandre Lacazette, and Rayan Cherki, others, because they are sought after, could leave the club, such as goalkeeper Lucas Perri, forwards Georges Mikautadze and Malick Fofana, and even midfielder Corentin Tolisso. Finally, nothing has been finalized regarding the pre-season program in terms of training camps and friendly matches.
