Mountain biking: The 24 hours of Paussac were a resounding success
With around thirty more people than in 2024, and despite the intense heat of the weekend, the 24 Hours of Mountain Biking in Paussac-Saint-Vivien attracted a large crowd this year.
The Paussac town's festival committee, organizers of the 24 Hours of Mountain Biking, can be proud of this event, which was packed this weekend. Motivated, the organizers welcomed more people than last year. This Saturday, 117 participants took part, solo or in relays, 35 more than the 2,024 total.
The heat didn't discourage mountain bike enthusiasts. "We only had one solo dropout and a gentleman who felt slightly unwell on Sunday morning, but otherwise everything went very well," said Sandrine Desvergne. Better still, everyone was delighted, and in addition to the increase in the number of entries at the front, the number of lap records was also broken.
Lap recordsThe mountain bikers raced at their own pace, resting when needed or completing laps as their bodies allowed. Kévin Luis, from Lot-et-Garonne, covered 344.4 kilometers, or 42 laps in total. Last year, by comparison, the first-place finisher completed 38 laps. More motivated than ever, the participants could also count on a physiotherapist on site in case of any minor mishaps.
Participants could also ride in teams of two, four, or six. Records were also broken in the four- or six-person relays. The four-person "Kikis Verts" from Dordogne completed 60 laps, or 565.8 kilometers. The six-person "La Troupe d'Élite" completed almost 600 kilometers and 72 laps, eight more than in 2024. There was also an all-female team of six mountain bikers, "Les Gouyates du Coin." Finishing last, they did not disappoint, covering 393.6 kilometers (48 laps).
In total, participants covered 12,050 kilometers over 24 hours. The organizers thank the volunteers and look forward to repeating the experience next year.
