Rugby: Youngsters from two Gulf (RCG)-Grimaud teams win the Paca championship title in Nice

The Rugby du Club du Golfe (RCG)-Grimaud has added two shields to its trophy cabinet. The cadets (U16) and the juniors (U19) each won the Paca championship title last weekend . A great reward for the club, chaired by Philippe Cornille.
The two teams played their final on the same day, at the Stade des Arboras in Nice, and supporters had travelled in large numbers to support them.
It was the U16s who took to the field first: the boys of the coaching duo Julien Bories and Eric Dufour, made no bones about it against Six-Fours in this Regional 3 final. There was no trembling in the stands: the young rugby players crushed their opponent 74 to 12.
"Even though their journey has been chaotic, they have managed to achieve this title through hard work," the manager said.
The junior final, in Regional 2, was more indecisive. They won 17-13 against Aix Université Rugby, after a breathless encounter. Trailing 13-10 with ten minutes remaining, the young RCG players took the lead thanks to a try from Martin Solidilow, converted by striker Sam Bailly.
Only one defeatThis regional title is a great reward for the entire team coached by Benoît Michel and Nicolas Ribière.
They suffered only one defeat all season and also showed character in the epic semi-final against Entente TAOB, a team from the Arles region, which they won on penalty kicks.
"This title is truly deserved for this team, which is reaching the end of its cycle and of which a good ten players will join the senior squad next season. Thanks to algorithms, our U19s were rewarded by the regional league, they have been playing together for an average of 6 years and 4 months... That's since the age of 13, a real group of friends!" adds Philippe Cornille.
Rugby in Grimaud is thriving, with some 220 members. High-quality coaches and a consistently friendly atmosphere are among the key players.
