Seattle-PSG: Summary of the Parisians' success, qualifying for the round of 16 of the Club World Cup

After the disappointment suffered against Botafogo (0-1) , Paris Saint-Germain reaffirmed their status as European champions on Monday, June 23, after a controlled match against the Seattle Sounders (2-0). A second success in the group stage of the Club World Cup, which allowed Luis Enrique and his dense squad to reach the round of 16 of the competition, by once again taking first place in Group B.
While the exact identity of their next opponent is not yet known, it remains to be determined between the Brazilian club Palmeiras and the American team Inter Miami, led by the Argentinian and former Parisian, Lionel Messi. The two clubs will face off on Tuesday, June 24 (Monday night in mainland France), to decide the top spot in Group A.
Meanwhile, in Group B, Atlético de Madrid beat Botafogo 1-0, relegating them to second place, but failed to extend their Club World Cup run. Thus, the club owned by American businessman John Textor – who also owns Olympique Lyonnais – qualified for the next round of the competition.
What to rememberStill as decisive in Paris' attacking lineup, the Moroccan full-back once again demonstrated his goal-scoring prowess. His tenth goal of the season for PSG came after an equally accomplished defensive performance.
35th, 1-0: After a corner quickly dispatched by the Parisians, Vitinha finds himself alone in the middle. The Portuguese strikes sharply, and his attempt is deflected by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, unintentionally with his back.
66th, 2-0: Bradley Barcola cuts down the left flank and crosses into the middle. He finds Achraf Hakimi, who controls the ball and then fires it sharply. The Moroccan beats the Seattle defense, then Stefan Frei, who is still beaten in his own goal.
Like the number of points collected by Paris Saint-Germain ( 1st ), Botafogo ( 2nd ) and Atlético de Madrid ( 3rd ). The goal difference of the three clubs finally allowed the Parisians to take the lead in Group B, at the expense of the Brazilian club, which had beaten them, but especially of the Madrid team, eliminated before the start of the elimination phase.
Unlike several lackluster matches offered since the start of the tournament, this clash between the MLS club and the Champions League winner offered a rather fast-paced match, which lacked only suspense, and a sharper sense of spectacle to obtain a better result than "B", on our sports grading scale ranging from "A" to "E".
