Skipper Kevin Escoffier to be tried in 2026 for multiple sexual assaults

Skipper Kevin Escoffier has been referred to the Lorient criminal court for sexual assault and will be tried next March, we learned this Friday, May 16, from the city's public prosecutor's office, confirming information from "Canard Enchaîné" .
Eric Pouder, deputy public prosecutor of Lorient, "confirmed" to AFP that Kevin Escoffier, 45, was being sent to the correctional court and was due to be tried on March 30, 2026 by the Lorient court for sexual assault following four complaints against him .
A judicial inquiry opened in July 2023At the beginning of February, the Breton sailor was taken into custody "for sexual assault" on four complainants, the Lorient prosecutor's office indicated at the time.
This investigation was a continuation of the judicial inquiry opened in July 2023 by the Paris prosecutor's office and transferred to the Lorient prosecutor's office concerning an alleged sexual assault in May 2023 on a young woman in Newport, in the United States, the Lorient prosecutor's office had specified.
"I am delighted that Mr. Escoffier can finally answer for his actions before the courts," Caroline Toby, lawyer for one of the plaintiffs, told AFP on Friday evening.
