Téo Andant, a member of AS Monaco athletics, wins bronze at the French 400m championships

Téo Andant took third place, winning the bronze medal at the French championships in the 400-meter distance, with a time of 45'33.

In Talence, the AS Monaco Athletics player was beaten by two of his teammates in the French national team, Abdallah Kounta, who retained his national title in 45:12, and Yann Spillmann, who took second place on the podium. Téo Andant expected more: "I'm not satisfied, I came to win. And I wanted to beat my record of 45:18. So I'm disappointed with this achievement, with the second-place finisher also overtaking me on the finish line."

Individual World Championships as a goal

The Monegasque driver got off to a strong start, following instructions, and was still in the lead around the final corner as he approached the final straight. But he tensed up and unfortunately got stuck at the finish.

Not everything is to be thrown away, quite the contrary, as he confides: "Although I can't beat my personal record which dates back to 2023, I'm having the season of my life, being super consistent between 45'20 and 45'50. I know that the performance will eventually arrive, I have to manage to maintain this consistency."

This consistency will be essential during the meetings he will be participating in this August, with the goal of qualifying individually for the World Championships, which will take place in Tokyo from September 13 to 21.

To do so, he'll need to get under 44.85 seconds. No easy feat, but Teo Andant wants to believe in his ability to get under 45 seconds. Otherwise, he'll still have the relay to shine again.
