The Trélissac club organized its first day dedicated to oval ball and is preparing for the 2025-2026 season.

After a rather successful 2024-2025 season, with a departmental shield and a second place in its Regional 2 group, the Trélissac Rugby Club wanted to mark the occasion by organizing, this Saturday, July 5, its first rugby festival. An event set to continue, which brought together many spectators and players throughout the day.

It began early in the morning with the "Rugby Olympics" for the under-16s and 18s, who competed in physical challenges like tug-of-war. Then, at 2 p.m., a touch rugby tournament (featuring neighboring clubs AOL, Saint-Astier, and CAP) and a penalty kick competition took place in the annex of the Firmin Daudou stadium. Meanwhile, the younger members of the RCT were invited to Jacquou Parc in Journiac for a day of outdoor activities.

In Trélissac, around 6 p.m., a live band provided the atmosphere and accompanied visitors who came to eat at a gourmet market. This was an opportunity for "DL" to take stock of the upcoming season with Laurent Capin and Charly Duveau, the club's president and vice-president, respectively. With a projected budget of €128,000, the RCT wants to build on the successes of the past season while expanding its training, with the creation of a new U18 category. "We're looking to make the club sustainable," explains Laurent Capin. "The U18s will be our reservoir for the first team in the years to come. We believe this is the most viable path. Because, in Trélissac, no one is paid, and that's not about to change!"

Movement among seniors

For the first team, the return of Olivier Guille, in charge of the forwards alongside François Richard, is a first sign of ambition. The arrival of experienced players like former Vernois Antoine Kersual and Benoît Grymonprez is another. With the return to the club of Julien Fey, the promising Tom Hachard (ex-CAP), Paul Oursaire (Copo) and Thomas Lartéguy (Montpon), the RCT has strengthened but is awaiting other recruits, the squad having experienced a large wave of departures.

"The primary objective will be to remain undefeated at home and retain the regional shield," explains Charly Duveau. However, the task is likely to be more difficult this season, with the relegation of historic clubs from the department like Montignac and Ribérac from R1.
