It was a vote that Vincent Labrune's opponents were banking on to increase their influence, in the hope of eventually overthrowing the controversial president of the Professional Football League (LFP). While the League's general assembly was due to renew the college of Ligue 1 club representatives on the board of directors, on Wednesday, September 10, Fabrice Bocquet, Waldemar Kita, and Loïc Féry, presidents of the Nice, Nantes, and Lorient clubs respectively, were finally elected to the governing body. The fourth candidate, Jean-Michel Roussier (Le Havre), was not nominated.

A failure interpreted by those familiar with internal power relations as a sign that Vincent Labrune retains great power and loyal networks, likely to block the path of those who would like to dislodge him. "This shows that he still has a certain influence and that it will not be easy to make him leave..." , observes one of them. The entourage of the president of the LFP, for its part, sees it as proof that there exists within the body "a silent majority that works and a noisy minority that is agitated" .
