Restaurant in Villeneuve-sur-Lot: with the Reunion Island Eskal, the Cale de la Marine takes on a Creole feel

A new restaurant specializing in Réunion cuisine has opened its doors. Behind the stove, Marie Nabbé serves traditional dishes.
By opening the Eskal Réunionnaise, Marie Nabbé is rediscovering her first love. At 54, she has worked for a long time in the restaurant industry, in traditional establishments. Having arrived in Villeneuve-sur-Lot five years ago, she already had in mind to open her own restaurant to offer the cuisine she knows best, the one her mother taught her in her youth spent in Réunion.
Thus, the Reunion Island Eskal offers typical dishes, "rougail saucisse, the well-known star," but also chicken or shrimp curries. Marie Nabbé also offers bouchons, another island specialty, "a rice pastry stuffed with pork or chicken. I also offer an American sandwich, but Reunion Island style, topped with cheese." Desserts are also a treat with two homemade cakes, sweet potato or pineapple. A house punch is featured on the drinks menu.
