Tesco's new food change 'helps reduce stress' and money for customers

Tesco has updated its delivery service, which is sure to benefit millions across the country. The supermarket has come to the rescue for busy parents this summer by unveiling a hidden benefit just in time for the holidays, and it might help families save both money and hassle.
The supermarket giant has extended delivery and 'click and collect' slots to eight weeks ahead – double the usual four-week window. Shoppers can now organise meals, BBQs, picnics, and packed lunches well in advance, avoiding the last-minute rush that often comes with summer madness.
To make things even better, Tesco has quietly eliminated its same-day delivery and collection fees in select stores, eliminating the £2 and £1 charges, respectively. Some would argue that this is quite a rare move for a big grocery chain during busy times.
But that's not all. In a gesture toward families enjoying staycations, Tesco is adding 15,000 extra click-and-collect slots at stores located near popular UK holiday destinations, from seaside towns to countryside getaways.
Speaking to the Retail Gazette, Rob Graham, Tesco’s online director, said: "Summer holidays are a busy time for all of us as we juggle family life. From days out to BBQs and picnics, we’re helping customers across the UK make the most of the summer, delivering everything they need to enjoy at home or during their holiday stay."
The change is hoped to reduce stress for customers. "This is a great time to plan ahead and let Tesco take some of the stress away from those summer activities by booking delivery or collection slots up to eight weeks in advance," he said.
"And, for those last-minute essentials, we’ve also removed same-day delivery fees in selected stores." The online director says the supermarket has also increased its click and collect availability in holiday hotspots to "make sure we’re there when customers need us."
Commenting on the new delivery update, Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk said this is a "genius" move from Tesco. He added: " Booking slots early and scrapping fees is exactly the kind of savvy support families need over summer. It makes budgeting and planning easier – and stress-free."
Standard delivery fees vary between £3 and £7 based on where you are, while click and collect can be free or up to £2, also depending on your location. Tesco offers a six-month anytime delivery pass for £7.99 a month, which includes same-day delivery, or you can get it for £6.99 a month if you commit to a 12-month plan.
If you’re looking for an off-peak pass, which is valid for deliveries after 3pm, it’s £4.99 for six months or £6.99 for a year. For click and collect, a six-month subscription costs £2.49 a month.
