Major UK airport introduces big change for Ryanair passengers in October

A major UK airport has confirmed a big change for Ryanair passengers this month. The change came into effect last week as the airport undergoes its huge £1.3 billion transformation programme.
The decade-long transformation of Manchester Airport is centred around doubling the size of Terminal 2 which will eventually serve 70% of passengers. The plans involve modernising the airfield to increase capacity for planes as well as eventually closing Terminal 1. The new-look Terminal 2 will also include modernised check-in desks, a new security hall with CT scanners, a bigger departure lounge, and an increased variety of shops and restaurants.
As reported by Manchester Evening News, Ryanair passengers are currently being impacted by the work. They are no longer able to use the Terminal 3 entrance and should instead head to Terminal 1 Departures A, where they will check in and pass through the new security lanes.
The passengers will then be able to follow a signed route into Terminal 3's departure lounge, which includes shops and food outlets. These alternative directions will remain in place until Terminal 1 closes for good.
The airport has reiterated that clear signage will be in place for passengers while staff will be on hand to help anyone with issues. Meanwhile, nothing has changed for Ryanair passengers heading to Manchester Airport who will continue arriving at Terminal 3.
It comes ahead of a busy October half-term break at Manchester Airport. Over one million travellers are expected to fly to or from the airport this week.

Manchester Airport Customer Operations Director Jennifer Byrne-Smith said: "Here at Manchester Airport we are proud to connect the North to the world – and we’re really looking forward to welcoming over one million people over the half-term break as they get away for a bit of Autumn sun.
"Our transformation programme is nearing its conclusion now and it’s an exciting time as we put the finishing touches on our brand-new Terminal 2 and continue the work to revamp Terminal 3."
She added: "But this does mean that some passengers used to flying with particular airlines may see some changes to their airport experience – this may be that their airline has moved to Terminal 2 or for Ryanair customers it could mean using a different entrance and security hall.
"In any case, airlines will update their passengers so it’s really important that people keep an eye out for those updates. We’ll also have lots of staff in place to give directions and answer any questions.
"If you’re travelling over half-term we can’t wait to see you and make sure that you are able to start your holiday here at Manchester Airport."
