Donald Trump told by Stefano Massini and the power of Richard III reread by Antonio Latella. But also the artist's memories on Strindberg's suggestion for a giant of the stage such as Umberto Orsini and, above all, the nightmare of war. The one told by the words of Gino Strada re-proposed by Elio Germano, by the writing of Aristophanes that Lella Costa and Serena Sinigallia revisit, by the surreal intuition of the Argentine Ariel Dorfman. The next prose program of the Duse (of which Qn-il Resto del Carlino is media partner) is full of intriguing opportunities: fourteen titles of different kinds linked by the desire to make the theater, as the president of the board of directors Walter Mramor says, "a gym of ideas". Building on last season's results (151,000 admissions with an average of 830 spectators per evening, 68 sold outs, 181 curtain raisers), the stage in via Cartoleria will inaugurate the official season on November 14 with Il birraio di Preston based on the novel of the same name by Camilleri with Edoardo Siravo as the protagonist. Before that, however, a long series of non-subscription shows has been announced, including Europeana with Lino Guanciale (October 25-26) and Il reato di pensare by Paolo Crepet (October 27-28).

The season, then. From the Vigata of the mid-1800s we move on to Oscar Wilde's Victorian England: from 21 to 22 November Geppy Gleijeses directs The Importance of Being Earnest starring Lucia Poli among others. The same director also signs Some Like It Hot (6-8 February) freely adapted from the film by Billy Wilder with Euridice Axen in the role that was once Marylin's. The Other Side, the paradoxical and grotesque text by Ariel Dorfman (28-30 November) starring Elisabetta Pozzi and Gigio Alberti, talks about the evil games of war. The same theme but a completely different scenic key for Lisistrata (20-22 February) staged by Serena Sinigallia right now at the Syracuse festival with Lella Costa as the protagonist. And conflicts are also discussed in La guerra com'è (16-18 January), a proposal that Elio Germano and Theo Theardo have adapted from the book by the founder of Emergency. The eye on contemporaneity is ensured by the highly anticipated Donald by and with Stefano Massini (23-25 January) which explains, as the subtitle says, the much more than legendary story of a Golden Man. We reflect and smile. For example with Contrazioni libere, the new comedy by Gabriele Pignotta accompanied on stage by Giorgio Lupano and Rocio Munoz Morales (13-15 March) and with Vicini di casa where Amanda Sandrelli has to deal with the taboos of couples (13-15 February). Malika Ayane (with live band) is the voice of Brokeback Mountain, a theatrical version of the famous film by Ang Lee which, after its success in London, arrives on Italian stages (5-7 December). Umberto Orsini closes the season from 27 to 29 March with Prima del tempesta, a production born from an idea of his and Massimo Popolizio who is directing. But prose lovers will be able to see in the preceding weeks Vinicio Marchioni in Shakespeare's Richard III directed by Antonio Latella (January 30-February 1); Giorgio Pasotti in Othello adapted by Dacia Maraini (February 27-March 1) with Giacomo Giorgio, Ciro Ricci in Mare fuori, in the role of the Moor; Woody Neri in Mephisto (March 6-8), a title taken from the novel by Klaus Mann that in the 80s became a famous film starring Klaus Maria Brandauer. Andrea Baracco conducts. And that's not all. There are concerts by Carmen Consoli, Raf, Noemi and Giò Evan, collaborations with Musica Insieme, Orchestra Senzaspine and Fantateatro and other theatre still unscheduled. In mid-November, for example, Paolo Genovese's Perfetti sconosciutos will return, much sought after.
