Among the horses of Emmaus, the Veterinary students experience equine medicine and the value of the encounter

The collaborations between the Emmaus cooperative of Foggia and the Universities of Bari and Foggia continue incessantly. In recent days it was the turn of the students of the Degree Course in Veterinary Medicine of the Aldo Moro University of Bari, hosted in the cooperative for a professionalizing course in Equine Medicine.

Accompanied by Professor Paola Paradies and guided by the veterinarian of the ASL Alessandro Maggi, they carried out practical clinical activities on the horses of the Emmaus cooperative. The collaboration between the University of Bari and the cooperative, now rooted for years, allows students a practical approach to the world of equine medicine and to the knowledge of the Murgese horse and is seen as an exciting moment of social and professional comparison.

The course proposed knowledge bases for understanding communication signals, management, care and animal well-being in order to improve the human-horse relationship understood as mutual care of oneself and the other.

The boys had an experience of living and working with horses, both Murgese and Haflinger. The teacher was very appreciative of the cooperative. “The course is part of the purpose of bringing together, as a cooperative and as a social farm, different people, to create a place where people with their abilities and their diversity meet. A microcosm of what the social context should be. People with their diversity are able to carry out their life project. The young university students of Veterinary Medicine come from different parts of the region and allow us to create rich and diversified relationships”, was the comment of Don Vito Cecere.
