Bad weather, strong storms coming. Yellow alert for Abruzzo, Molise, Marche and Puglia

Still quite unstable weather in central Italy , with the possibility of new rains and local thunderstorms, even of strong intensity, more likely in the areas of the middle-lower Adriatic. The Department of Civil Protection has issued a yellow alert notice for four regions: Abruzzo, Marche, Molise and Puglia.

Showers are also expected on the Maritime Alps, Ligurian Apennines, central-eastern Alpine and Prealpine sectors. In the evening, we cannot exclude incursions into the Piedmont plain.

A new phase of bad weather will also affect the north tomorrow, Thursday 22 May, with showers and thunderstorms , less intense and frequent in north-western Piedmont , Val d'Aosta and Emilia Romagna.

Possible strong thunderstorms between lower Piedmont, Lombardy, Liguria and the north-east. Showers also in the central regions especially in the internal areas between Tuscany, Umbria and Marche. Showers will also occur between southern Lazio, Campania and Tyrrhenian Calabria, for the rest dry weather. New temperature drop in the north with values ​​below the average for the period.

The volunteers of the regional Civil Protection intervened with water pumps and vehicles equipped to support in particular the Municipality of Finale Ligure following the flooding caused by heavy rains. Among the operations carried out, also the cutting of a fallen tree near the motorway junction.

From the Regional Operations Room, in constant contact with local administrations in the territory, there are no reports of people being evacuated from their homes. Some cars, without any passengers on board, ended up in the Pora torrent , which overflowed in several places between Finale and Calice Ligure. Some landslides were reported in the hinterland, in the Rialto area, while in Tovo San Giacomo there was damage to the cemetery road.

The disturbance that is affecting Tuscany is still in transit, with rain and thunderstorms that will ease today. The precipitation, also in the form of strong thunderstorms, on the Archipelago and coast (particularly central and northern) moved in the evening to the inland areas and the rest of the region. Today, Wednesday 21 May, possibility of residual thunderstorms at night especially in the southern areas and occasional and brief afternoon thunderstorms in the inland areas.

Bad weather alert with heavy thunderstorms (ANSA)

Due to flooding caused by heavy rainfall in the last few hours, state road 589 “dei Laghi di Avigliana” is temporarily closed to traffic for a stretch of approximately 600 meters in the town of Frossasco, in the province of Turin.

Traffic is temporarily directed to the surrounding road network with on-site indications. Anas teams, Fire Brigade and Law Enforcement are present on site to manage the emergency and restore normal traffic as quickly as possible.
