If such assistance is not provided, it is possible to organize it independently, purchasing a new flight even with another company and keeping all receipts and invoices relating to extra expenses incurred, such as transfers, hotel nights or meals.

In these cases, the EU regulation does not provide for any financial compensation. In fact, the strike of the Italian air sector is considered an exceptional circumstance. However, you are entitled to reimbursement of documented expenses to reach the pre-established destination.
