Dolomites, fourth landslide in a few days on the side of Cima Marcora

Belluno, a cloud of dust rose from the ravine at the same moment the bell tower rang midday
The bells of midday were still ringing, Monday, June 30, when a cloud of dust rose from the gully of Cima Marcora, in the Belluno Dolomites . An unmistakable sign of a new landslide underway in the same area, not comparable to the one that whitened San Vito di Cadore between Saturday and Sunday night, but nevertheless evidence of a phenomenon that shows no signs of stopping. This is the fourth time in a few days. The people at the market looked towards the gully behind the church bell tower, curious and worried.
After about half an hour, just before one o'clock, the first drops of a strong storm that hit San Vito and the entire Boite valley eliminated the white blanket spread over streets, roofs and plants. The same one that in the morning had convinced many street vendors engaged in the usual weekly market to wear a mask to stop the dust. "I wear it - explained a street vendor - to avoid breathing in the dust that is in the air". Many residents, before it started to rain, wet the external areas of their homes for an initial summary cleaning. Then the storm that eliminated the dust, but also fueled new concerns.
In Cancia di Borca di Cadore, about ten days ago, following a storm of rain and wind following the first landslide, a debris flow of about 100 thousand cubic meters occurred that invaded the town. Now we are watching the weather, worried about new storms announced in the evening. (Text and video by Ugo Cennamo).
