In Foggia the Mario Frasca Award to remember those who fell in peacekeeping missions

" From the school comes the warning to the new generations to make them understand the spirit of belonging. Because our heroes have fallen for the values of peace and democracy that cannot fail to arouse our attention. Mario Frasca attended this very school, he graduated here on July 23, 1998 and from that moment his military career began which unfortunately ended on September 23, 2011 in Herat, Afghanistan where Mario died with two comrades". This was said by Vincenzo Frasca , secretary of the Mario Frasca association, named in memory of his brother, corporal chief of the Italian army who died during an international peace mission in Herat, Afghanistan, on September 23, 2011.
Frasca spoke this morning in Foggia during the seventh edition of the award dedicated to the memory of his brother, underway at the Blaise Pascal school. The deceased soldier graduated from the Foggia school on July 23, 1998, and for seven years the school and the association have promoted the award that has the purpose of remembering the over 170 fallen soldiers and civilians who have lost their lives for the ideals of peace and democracy in international territories from 1950 to today.
“The important thing about these initiatives,” Frasca continued, “is that they serve to push us not to forget not only Mario, but all the Italians who died in peacekeeping missions abroad. We need what Pope Francis always repeated, that is, peace. Starting from a spirit of unity and listening.” “The message is to make known what is happening and what we believe in, what we fight for and sometimes even lose our lives for,” stressed school principal Giulia Rosa Trimboli . “We remember Mario through this award that allows our students to relive a piece of history. We must cultivate peace first of all among ourselves, trying to be more sermonized.” ( Ansa )
