Riot in Los Angeles, Clashes and Protests After ICE Anti-Immigration Raids: Trump Sends in National Guard

A riot against anti-immigration raids by ICE , the Immigration and Customs Enforcement , the agency responsible for border security and immigration control.

These are the scenes that have been unfolding since Friday, June 6, in Los Angeles , California, where hundreds of people took to the streets to protest three large-scale “raids” by ICE agents to arrest and deport suspected illegal immigrants .

The ICE operations took place in the Wetlake District and in the Fashion District, targeting a number of stores where illegal immigrants were suspected to be present: when the soldiers arrived on the scene they were surrounded by citizens who began to protest and throw stones.

The situation quickly escalated: dozens of people were arrested and the Los Angeles police, who had not been involved in the ICE arrest operations, also intervened on the scene.

The White House has reacted furiously. US Secretary of Defense Peter Hegseth wrote in X that “if the violence continues, even the Marines serving at Camp Pendleton (a Marine base in California, ed.) will be mobilized , they are on high alert”.

Of course, Donald Trump couldn’t be left out. “California Governor Gavin Newsom (Newsom, Trump uses the derogatory nickname he gave to the governor of California where “scum” means trash, ed.) and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass can’t do their jobs, which everyone knows, so the federal government is going to step in and solve the problem of riots and looters the right way.”

The US president has ordered the deployment of 2,000 National Guard officers : “President Trump – announced his spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt – has signed a presidential memorandum that provides for the deployment of 2,000 National Guard officers to address the lawlessness that has been allowed to spread”.

Gavin Newsom 's response from Los Angeles was firm, speaking about the mobilization promoted by the White House, and stressing that Trump wants to deploy soldiers "not because there is a lack of law enforcement, but because they want a show . Don't give them that. Never use violence. Speak peacefully."
