Tokyo E-Prix: Qualifying cancelled due to bad weather

Qualifying for round 8, the first of two races scheduled on the Tokyo street circuit, has been cancelled. This is the first time this has happened in the history of the Formula E world championship. Heavy rain began to fall during the second free practice session, becoming increasingly incessant, so much so that the race direction, for safety reasons, decided to cancel the whole thing. The circuit is unusable due to the copious stagnant water in various areas of the track. As happens in these cases, the starting grid is decided based on the results obtained by the drivers during FP2. Oliver Rowland will start from the front row ahead of Edoardo Mortara and Norman Nato , with the Nissans confirming themselves as the cars to beat also during the second free practice session. Box number four for Taylor Barnard , Neom McLaren, with the young Englishman preceding the Mahindra of Nyck De Vries and the Envision of Sébastien Buemi and the Cupra Kiro of Dan Ticktum . Jean-Éric Vergne 's Ds was eighth followed by teammate Maximilian Günther , with the Dutch Robin Frijns closing the top ten.
