Violent attack at Molo Masuccio: Paolo Grassi injured

A serious assault occurred this morning at the Molo Masuccio Salernitano , in the heart of the tourist port of Salerno . The victim was Paolo Grassi , a well-known shipowner and legal representative of Grassi Junior Società Cooperativa , a company active in maritime connections between Salerno, the Amalfi Coast and Capri .
According to the company itself, the entrepreneur was physically and verbally attacked by some individuals present in the port state-owned area, in a context already marked by tensions and complaints for alleged irregularities in the management of the concessions .
The attack apparently occurred suddenly and violently, with insults, spitting and beatings which required the intervention of the 118 medical personnel , who arrived on site to provide first aid to the shipowner and arrange further medical checks.
What is disconcerting, however, is the lack of immediate presence of the police , who – according to witnesses – justified their absence with the “unavailability of patrol cars” , leaving those present dismayed and increasing the sense of vulnerability of the entrepreneur and his collaborators.
Making the matter even more worrying is the context of threats and intimidation that, according to Grassi Junior , has been going on for months now. “ This is not an isolated episode ,” declared a collaborator of the company, “but the umpteenth act of intimidation against Paolo Grassi, who has long been the object of pressure and aggression following the complaints filed against alleged conflicts of interest in the management of Molo Masuccio.”
Just recently, the company sent a complaint to the ANAC (National Anti-Corruption Authority), reporting anomalies in the awarding of the state concession for the pier, currently – according to the accusations – managed by a company owned by competing shipowners , with a system that would damage free competition and the balance of the local market.
The episode risks further compromising the image and safety of the tourist port of Salerno , a strategic infrastructure for maritime mobility and tourism in Campania, but increasingly at the centre of controversy and clashes between operators.
“ Today there is an injured person, a physical attack and an obvious safety problem ,” the company’s statement continued. “The institutions can no longer ignore what is happening.”
Paolo Grassi 's name is well-known in the industry for his long entrepreneurial experience and his constant commitment to defending legality . The attack suffered today represents, according to his collaborators, a direct attack on business freedom and a wake-up call that requires immediate and transparent responses from local, regional and national authorities .
