Wall Street Journal: US-EU Close to Mutual Trade Agreement. No Reference to Duties

The United States and the European Union are close to reaching an agreement on a variety of non-tariff trade issues , from deforestation rules to the treatment of U.S. tech companies in Europe, but the fate of tariffs remains uncertain , the Wall Street Journal reports, citing a draft “reciprocal trade agreement” circulated by the office of the U.S. Trade Representative.
The document sets out provisional agreements on a number of specific trade issues, including the EU’s Digital Markets Act , carbon-based tariffs, shipbuilding and more, according to people familiar with the text, who said the deal appeared close to being finalized , but stressed that it could change in the coming days and weeks.
